But for some people, filling up on fluids may actually be causing them to pack on the pounds. How can this be?

Nutrition expert Gloria Tsang, founder of HealthCastle.com, will grab your listeners' attention with some shocking facts about what's really in those non-water drinks we all sip to top up our daily "water" consumption.

Gloria will reveal the truth about the beverages many people put into their bodies every day, including:

- Think you're drinking tea? There are lots of products with "tea" in the name - but they're not really tea!

- Think that daily can of diet soda is better for you than the regular stuff? Fewer calories doesn't mean it's better for you.

- Think energy drinks really give you energy? Maybe for a minute, but what's the long-term cost?

- Think that daily latte gives you a healthy start? With all the conflicting news about whether coffee is good or bad for you, how do you know what to believe?

Plus she can explain how beverages alone can easily add up to an extra 1,000 calories a day - if you're not drinking the right ones.

The benefit of this B 12 vitamin products. Well-balanced all-natural lifestyle includes adding supplements to your diet with high quality dietary vitamins and greens along with age defying foods or superfoods. This content discusses the specific B12 vitamin together with the healthy and balanced regimen.

The B12 vitamin belongs to the b nutritional vitamins that happen to be essential to care for a sound body. Also identified as Cobalamin, the 12b vitamin is needed for ones systems to transform the carbohydrates, fatty acids and proteins from foodstuff to energy. 12b also, moreover, helps maintain the red blood cells and as such avoid heart disease as well as keeping the immune system performing at the highest point. On top of that, B12 is used to create the protective covering of all nerve cellular material in the body.

The main ability of 12b is to make good red blood cells. But the truth is, all body cells need vitamin B12 to keep them healthy and balanced. It really is the white blood cells, among other body cells, that need B12 that will make sure that the immune mechanism works properly. The many nerve cells in the body likewise need 12b to make their protecting fatty membrane. This is critical for all the nerves yet is especially so for those inside the brain. When there is not an adequate amount of 12b to produce this protective membrane then the brain won’t be working correctly.

Curiously, the amount of vitamin B12 each body needs is pretty small though is required on a regular basis. Having said that, vitamin B12 on its own is not enough since the body will not absorb it with ease. In helping one’s body absorb vitamin B12 the digestive system creates digestive enzymes that will allow more of the actual B12 to be absorbed. B12 is only present in animal food items including liver, eggs, fish and various meats but many people today consume much more than their suggested daily quantity of 12b. It’s not an issue since the body can use just about half of one’s vitamin B12 that is ingested. It is also worthwhile noting that your body system will recycle the B12 which in turn cuts down on the affect of a B12 insufficiency. Even so, strict vegetarians or vegans will probably need B12 nutritional supplements if they do not eat any kind of animal foods that include B12.

When the body lacks sufficient vitamin B12 then anemia is easily the most apparent indicator. Naturally, it’s because there is insufficient 12b to build good red blood cells. Anemia can also be attributed to our bodies not producing sufficient digestive enzymes that will help absorb the B12 that is available in the food eaten. Your system tends to makes a lesser amount of stomach enzymes once a person gets to 50 and this can end up in a lesser amount of 12b being ingested and dietary supplements of B12 may very well be needed. Children are also at an increased risk for anemia since they may not consume the food that have B12. Expecting mothers need to have additional B12 as the the baby is absorbing 12b during the gestation to develop appropriately.

Eating out isn’t easy for Gluten Free individuals. This article will help with some simple pointers on how to make eating out as a Gluten Free person fairly easy. This information will help guide you in how to make life easy when managing your gluten free restaurant experience.

Most people probably don’t even know about gluten free dining establishments or of their importance. However, for those with the gluten free need due to health issues, trying to eat out with family or friends can often be a nerve-racking event. Gluten Free dining establishments in the US will oftentimes be a partner of the (GFRAP) program. It means they must follow the tight rules for supplying gluten free food, and provide a big menu of items that meet the diet restrictions.

Obviously when asking about gluten free, it unquestionably helps if the gluten free restaurant openly exhibits signs expressing that they are gluten free knowledgeable or have g-free menu foods. Some restaurants don’t do this unfortunately and it’s up to the individual patrons to be prepared to share their needs with the establishment staff & owners.

You should always check to see if an eating establishment is gluten free beforehand, you can observe if it’s a good place for you. After all, don’t they need/want you as a patron? Gluten Free awareness includes knowing what foods are usually safe and what components go into this particular restaurant’s food ingredients. You also need awareness of what components usually have any hidden gluten. This can seem to be hard, but it’s nowhere near the pain you may get after your gluten meal. A short cut to this is carrying a list of common elements that contain gluten. Whether you get your list from an organization or make your own, it definitely helps.

Communicating with the wait staff of a gluten free dining establishment is often the most tricky thing for a person that needs to be gluten free. But it does not have to be painful. Actually it’s about building an understanding, making direct eye contact and speaking distinctly. Don’t be scared. Unfortunately not all food servers are there working their way up to the top. They are not all propelled to please you or be fulfill you entirely, some in fact can be quite uncaring, occupied or just plain rude. If you have accomplished your rapport, spoken with clear communication and are cognizant they are looking around, chances are you have met a person who has no clue about the needs of a gluten free individual, and is probably that they are too shy or vain to pass your inquiry onto the proper contact or people in the kitchen. You get a server that you can’t handle, and you want to remain, you can always request to talk to the owner.

Being Gluten Free can be tough, but it doesn’t have to stop you from eating out and enjoying a nice meal with family or friends. Be thorough and stand up for your rights.

By Patricia Wentworth

I’ve always been a long-time believer of healthy diet and by diet I did not mean starve yourself to death. There are certain types of food that fills you up really well but they won’t make you gain weight super fast just like what French fries do. I replaced white rice with quinoa and I swear I’ve never felt this good. Maybe you need to know about quinoa nutrition facts before you actually switch to it.

With its nutritional value, quinoa might be considered as a super grain although technically it is not a grain, the seed of the plant is related to spinach and Swiss chard. What I love most about the numerous quinoa nutrition facts is the amount of protein you get.

Why is it called the super grain or “Mother of all grains”? Well because unlike most grains, it does not lack the amino acid lysine. Quinoa actually has a lot of lysine content. This means that you are getting complete high quality protein for every serving. This is same as true with other non-true grains like buckwheat and amaranth.

Did you know that WHO (World Health Organization) rated the protein quality of quinoa at least tantamount to that in milk? It also offers more iron than other grains and it contains abundant potassium, riboflavin (can help ease migraine), vitamin B6, niacin and thiamin. Quinoa is a great source of magnesium. Copper and zinc as well. Can you find that all in other grains? I don’t think so!

There are plenty of quinoa nutrition facts and health benefits that you can read online but I’m pretty sure you can’t wait to go to your grocery store and buy a bag and whip up a scrumptious meal.

When someone develops an infection at a hospital or other patient care facility that they did not have prior to treatment, this is referred to as a healthcare-associated (sometimes hospital-acquired) infection (HAI).

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), at any point in time, 1.4 million people worldwide suffer from infections acquired in hospitals. A Centers for Disease Control (CDC) report published in March-April 2007 estimated the number of U.S. deaths from healthcare associated infections in 2002 at 98,987.

Until recently, a lack of HAI reporting requirements for healthcare facilities has contributed to less-than-optimal emphasis being placed on eliminating the sources of healthcare associated infections. However, growing public anxiety regarding the issue and resulting legislation on state and local levels demanding accountability is serving to accelerate initiatives to combat HAIs.

As part of an ongoing commitment to quality care and infection prevention, nationwide doctors and hospitals are partnering with Kimberly-Clark to deliver continuing education programs on healthcare-associated infection (HAI) prevention to staff and management. As simple as education sounds, busy doctors and nurses on the front lines of delivering care can find it difficult to find the time to take advantage of scheduled programs within their hospitals.

Types of Healthcare-Associated Infections

Ventilator – Associated Pneumonia (VAP)
VAP is the source of the highest morbidity and mortality of all Healthcare Associated Infections.

Surgical Site Infections (SSIs)
Any breach of patient skin can lead to a surgical site infection.

Cross Contamination (Contact Transfer)
Contact transfer (touch contamination) is the number one source of Healthcare Associated Infections.

The HAI Education Program is part of a national infection awareness campaign for healthcare professionals called “Not on My Watch” and will provide the facility with a toolkit that contains informational flyers, patient safety tips and posters.

HAI Education Bus

As part of its mission to find innovative ways to develop and maintain a variety of accredited education, equipping healthcare providers with critical insights and information on today’s important clinical issues, Kimberly-Clark introduced the HAI Education Bus, an impressive new one-of-a-kind mobile classroom that brings accredited CE education right to your door.

Look for this tour bus as it makes its way across the country, delivering education about healthcare-associated infections and other critical healthcare issues from the plains of Texas to the California coast to New York City and places in between.

About HAI Watch

HAI Watch is your resource for collateral and supplies to help keep your organization aware of the importance of healthcare associated infection prevention. The following guidelines on hand hygiene in healthcare settings and other tips are available now, but keep checking back. New HAI awareness tools will be added on an ongoing basis.
