Everyone knows that the body needs certain vitamins and nutrients to function properly. We receive these vitamins and nutrients from the foods we eat. Monavie health juice contains powerful antioxidants, vitamins, and phytonutrients, and it also has glucosamine and plant sterols.

While we understand that the body needs these vitamins, few of us understand why or what these vitamins do to aid our health and overall physical well-being. In everyone’s body a natural process is occurring at all times. This process is called oxidation. During oxidation, some molecules can be destroyed, resulting in a chain reaction that can kill cells. This is not so bad because the body is producing new cells at all times. Antioxidants reduce the damage to your cells from free radicals by stopping them beforehand. Unfortunately, the body cannot produce enough antioxidants on its own.

In order to aid our bodies in protecting themselves from free radicals, we must turn to the foods we eat. There are certain "superfoods" that contain higher amounts of antioxidants and phytochemicals than others do. Monavie juice contains 19 beneficial fruits, including the acai berry. Acai berry is a reddish purplish fruit found in Central and South America. It contains anthocyanins and flavonoids. Flavonoids are the biggest class of antioxidants, and are known to help reduce swelling and aid in body cell protection. Another beneficial superfood is grapes. Grapes contain polyphenols like resveratrol, which is found in wine. This antioxidant is helpful in fighting high blood pressure and boosting heart health. Antioxidants are also known to help interfere with the aging process. Berries, such as blueberries and cranberries, contain antioxidants, phytonutrients, and have a low glycemic load. Glycemic load is important to consider because it affects your blood sugar, and keeping blood sugar levels stable is important for limiting fat gain and keeping energy levels up.

Amongst the nutritional Fish Oil Supplements most talked about these days, Fish Oil Supplementsare being very much counseled each by dieticians and doctors.

Why Fish Oil Supplements?

Omega three contained in fish oil is an essential fatty acid. As it cannot be manufactured by our own body and therefore should be obtained through our diet alone. For most individuals, their diet contains an unsatisfactory amount of Omega 3. Besides, they conjointly contain a high amount of the Omega 6 fatty acid.

Edges of Fish Oil Supplement

Lowers blood triglyceride levels,

Reduces the danger of heart attack,

Reduces the danger of dangerous abnormal heart rhythms,

Alzheimer’s disease and dementia

Depression

Cancer

Diabetes

Hyperactivity

ADHD

Fish Oil Supplements to regulate heart attack.

Heart disease is the leading explanation for death each year. Caused by blockages in the blood vessels surrounding the heart (coronary arteries), heart disease is a avertable and treatable condition. Atherosclerosis is the process that causes heart disease, or in different words the narrowing of blood vessels that can result in blockage of the coronary artery. It involves the build-of a substance, referred to as atherosclerotic plaque, which contain cholesterol and fat material. Atherosclerosis will additionally develop in many completely different arteries in the body, ensuing in a number of various conditions, like stroke and peripheral arterial disease. A blockage that’s additional than 50 percent is taken into account significant and becomes vital when it’s 90 percent or more. The placement of the blockage in an artery is additionally necessary; the further downstream the blockage in the artery, the less necessary the stoppage of blood becomes as a result of there’s less heart muscle to supply.

Low levels of omega-3 fatty acids within the blood are known to extend the risk of a fatal heart attack. Fish Oil Supplementsare found to decrease bound fats referred to as triglycerides, raise HDL, commonly called the nice cholesterol and skinny the blood a bit. In Might 2002 the Yankee Heart Association announced that daily supplements of fatty acid found in fish oil, reduces the risk of sudden death in heart attack survivors by half.

Facet effects

Being oil from fish it as a matter of truth has no facet effects. It’s no different than eating fish in fact. Thus, for the average healthy person, it’s completely safe. In fact, if you are pregnant, allergic to fish, or have already got any reasonably known health issues, one ought to check along with his doctor first simply to be safe. But, it might leave behind a “fishy after taste”

Nutrition in the elderly is something I am growing to be concerned with as I get older, especially as it relates to brain fitness.

By Michael Logan

<img style="border:1px solid #b0b0b0;"src="http://www.nutritiontips4you.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/elderly_nutrition.jpg" alt="elderly nutrition" title="elderly nutrition" width="150" height="149" class="alignright size-full wp-image-181" />

Nutrition in the elderly is something I am growing to be concerned with as I get older, especially as it relates to brain fitness.

Never heard of neurogenesis or neuroplasticity? You want to take care of your brain. I counsel folks about the impact of poor nutritional habits on their behavior.

I have looked for a magic bullet, the miracle supplement that would fight off disease and keep me young and vital, and counteract some of my nutritional excesses, like my difficulty in giving up processed foods. Gotta have that hamburger helper.

However in the last couple of years I have seen my mother-in-law and one of my wife’s aunts, who are not much older than I am face serious health challenges, which is a sobering experience.

I am watching dear friends my age put their lives on hold to take care of aging parents.

Julie and I have talked about what would happen if her parents were ill and needed to move out of their house.

So the issue of staying well is with us all the time, and I am looking to make changes in how I take care of getting my body the building blocks it needs to sustain wellness, which means vitamins, minerals, fiber, phytochemicals, glyconutrients, omega 3 fatty acid, ect., all those things we need to ward of disease and chronic illness.

I have always been good about exercise, and I have been much improved on the vegetable front for the last several years, and this spring we planted a bit of a garden, including four tomato plants which produced many more tomatoes than we could use, so even though I do not really like tomatoes, I juiced some with celery from our garden, and carrots, and I really liked the result, even felt a little better.

So now I am moving towards using my veg-o-matic to make some juices for my immune system and my brain fitness.

I would like to age like Jim Ward who finished the Ironman triathalon when he was 74.

At any rate, about a year ago, I saw a book advertised called The Brain That Changes Itself by Norman Doidge,MD, and he interviewed researchers who were making astounding discoveries about our brains, and what they are capable of across the life span.

It turns out that our brains grow new neurons everyday, which is called neurogenesis, and our brains are much more plastic than we ever new, which means my brain will reorganize itself in a healthy way each time I learn something new. It will also pare unused neurons and circuits which may not be so healthy, if it pares too many.

It also turns out that neurogenesis and neuroplasticity can be encouraged by attending to what writers in the brain fitness field are calling the pillars of brain fitness.

The pillars of brain fitness are physical activity/exercise, nutrition including omega 3 fatty acid and antioxidants, which you must get from the food for best results, sleep, stress management, and novel learning experience.

So nutrition is an important part of healthy nutrition in the elderly. If I supply my body the tools it needs, it is designed to successfully manage pathogens.

And the next wonderful thing is that healthy nutrition is very important in keeping my brain making wise decisions about its future.

Your lifestyle does not have to include triathalon style workouts or monkish menu’s to enhance neurogenesis and neuroplasticity either.

According to Simon Evans,Ph.D. and Paul Burghardt,Ph.D., who are the authors of Brainfit for Life the exercise level required for brain fitness can be done at home by increasing the amount of physical activity that you do, like the model that 88 year old Bill and 82 year old Pat use. No expensive club membership nor do you need equipment any more sophisticated than an exercise ball and/or a couple of small dumbbells.

Evans and Burghardt to into some detail about micro and macro nutrients that we need from our food.

The big thing to remember is that brain, heart, and immune system food must be natural, preferably grown nearby.

No more processed food, which is engineered for long shelf life, not nutrition.

I have always been a smoothie maker, and I am going to become much more of a juicer, having created some great tomato and carrot and celery recipes from our garden this year.

And since I have read Evans and Burghardt I have been taking my omega 3 fatty acid. What I have noticed from that is an improvement in my attention, and a balancing of my mood.

I take a supplement because getting the fish which are best for omega 3 fatty acid is expensive, and perhaps full of mercury, so a supplement, if it is refined to get the mercury out, is cheaper and more efficient. Cooking fish takes a bit more time than I want to put in.

The next pillars of brain fitness that Burghardt and Evans talk about are sleep and stress management. I have used a stress management and relaxation tool personally and taught it to my clients called HeartMath, which teaches me to change the chemistry in my body from adrenalin and cortisol to DHEA (the antiaging hormone) in a heart beat. Remember that my thought about an event brings my stress chemistry, and too frequent stress responses, or stress responses that last too long kill those new brain cells. Use HeartMath to keep the stress response available for its intended use. Otherwise, keep cool for brain fitness.

According to Evans and Burghardt important activities happen in our brains during sleep. That is when the brain makes decisions about keeping or paring newly created neuroplastic connections. If that paring or consolidation is not done efficiently, we will pay an attentional price.

The novel learning experiences most frequently touted by the brain fitness writers is learning a new language or learning a new instrument because those activities provide increasing levels of challenge and complexity for encouraging neuroplasticity.

However recently published research, to be exact, the IMPACT study has demonstrated the validity and reliability of one of the commercially available brain fitness programs, the Posit Science Brain Fitness Program. Call it brain nutrition in the elderly.

Both the participants, all older than 65, and over 500 of them, and the researchers reported surprise at what they discovered.

Since I do not have time to learn a new language, or practice a new instrument, I am using the Posit Science program, and it has made a very nice improvement in my word recall process.

And now I am off to the grocery store to get carrots and celery for a refreshing tonic.

Michael S. Logan is a brain fitness expert, a counselor, a student of Chi Gong, and licensed one on one HeartMath provider. I enjoy the spiritual, the mythological, and psychological, and I am a late life father to Shane, 10, and Hannah Marie, 4, whose brains are so amazing. http://www.askmikethecounselor2.com

By David3 Spitz3

It seems as though wherever we go to shop for our vitamins or supplements we see the words organic or natural. What exactly do natural vitamins have that makes them different? Typically, the biggest difference between vitamins that are called natural or organic and ones that are not is the way that they were manufactured.

When you shop for vitamins, you sometimes will see different kinds of labeling that suggest things such as "all natural" or "Not tested on animals". The key differences between choosing natural vitamins and regular vitamins can be as subtle as the process in which the nutrients are extracted and put into the capsule, or as broad as how they were fabricated and the origin of the nutrient. Some companies will only provide the nutrients in their vitamins that are from certain localities and from certain variations of the plant or source of the nutrient. Other companies may buy their nutrients in bulk and make the supplements out of them.

It is really a matter of preference when it comes to choosing natural vitamins versus other kinds of vitamins. Most people question if there really is a difference in the quality of the nutrients that are in them and the answer can depend greatly on the individual brand. If you are looking for a pure grade version of a nutrient in its more natural state, you may want to take a look at the natural vitamins. If you are not as concerned about where or how the nutrients were made into vitamins, you would probably choose the vitamins that do not say all natural.

One of the biggest differences that is usually the most noticeable between natural vitamins and those that are not is the price. You will often expect to see a much higher price tag on natural vitamins. This is because the pure extracts of the nutrient are more expensive to import and it takes more money to process them in a way that retains their natural levels of nutrients. Some people feel that the higher price is worth it for knowing how and where the nutrients came from and how they were made.

When it comes time for you to choose between different vitamins, the best thing to do is compare them side by side to see how potent the nutrient content is in the vitamin and if there are any artificial ingredients that have been added to them in the process of making the vitamins. If the vitamin does not state that it is all natural, there is a good chance that there are some artificial ingredients added to make up for the pure forms of nutrients. Some people feel it is worth the extra money to choose natural vitamins and know exactly what is in them and what they are getting for their money. A good way to find out if you can tell a difference is to try different kinds and see if you notice any changes in the color, texture and potency of the vitamins.

It should come as no surprise that women have different nutritional needs than men. Women’s bodies handle stress differently than men’s bodies, and their complicated systems require a variety of nutrients to perform at optimum levels.

By Megan-Hazel

It should come as no surprise that women have different nutritional needs than men. Women’s bodies handle stress differently than men’s bodies, and their complicated systems require a variety of nutrients to perform at optimum levels. Because a woman’s health changes with the cyclical nature of her body, it is important that she keep up with this cycle and supplement her nutritional intake accordingly. Let’s look at how a woman can best do this to maintain peak health all year long.

Many people can benefit from supplementing with Essential Fatty Acids, or EFAs, but they are of utmost import for women. Not only are they essential for optimum brain functioning, these supplements play an important role in heart health for women. They are quite beneficial for the hair, skin and nails, all of which concerns are on the top of a woman’s list.

Women will do a lot for the sake of beauty, and it may even include eating fish when they don’t like the taste of it. Salmon is probably the best natural source of EFAs, but if you would prefer to take your fish oil quickly and easily you can do so with a tablet or capsule. So long as you are diligent with your supplement regimen, you can reap the same benefits as you would by eating a lot of fish.

Another very important supplement for women is folic acid. The body does not easily manufacture folic acid, so it is important to supplement the diet with this B-vitamin derivative. It is especially critical for women to get folic acid, especially women of child-bearing years. Every prenatal vitamin contains folic acid and most practitioners will suggest an additional folic acid supplement even while a pregnant woman is taking a prenatal vitamin.

This is true even after childbirth, and while a woman is still breastfeeding. Folic acid deficiencies have been known to cause birth defects. If you are within the range of child-bearing years and you think you may become pregnant, it is a good idea to start supplementing with folic acid even if you do not anticipate pregnancy for many months. The best plan for a safe and healthy pregnancy is to build up folic acid in your system prior to the time when a developing fetus may need to rely on it.

Calcium is a mineral that is especially important for women to have in plentiful amounts. Women are much more prone to osteoporosis, and the chance of developing this debilitating condition can be greatly reduced by taking in sufficient amounts of calcium before you significantly age. Along with calcium, women should take magnesium in a ratio of 2:1. Magnesium helps calm anxiety, and more important for women it reduces premenstrual cramps and hormonal fluctuations that cause emotional upset during this time of a woman’s cycle.

During a woman’s cycle, certain herbs have been touted as being quite helpful although they remain somewhat controversial as to efficacy and safety. One herb that is very popular for women is dong quai, which is said to lessen mood swings and cramping and have a direct effect on estrogen and progesterone levels.

Another herb that is known for this is wild yam. Some women use a cream made from wild yam that you can rub directly into the skin of your hands or elsewhere, and they indicate that it evens your levels of estrogen and progesterone because the herb itself has plant hormone levels similar to those a woman has during her menstrual cycle.

As indicated above, the efficacy and safety levels of these herbs are often the subject of much debate among health professionals. Last in this list of herbs is black cohosh, which again is used by many to help ease premenstrual symptoms. It can be taken in tea or tincture form, and also comes in a capsule or tablet if that is preferable.

It is imperative that women supplement their diet with crucial vitamins, minerals and herbs for a number of reasons. Not only is it important during times of added stress such as menstruation, but a women’s body tends to have additional stress for a number of reasons all year long.

Childbirth, preparation for childbirth, the after-effects of childbirth as well as menstruation and pre-menstruation all require additional nutrient intake. For older women, the issue of menopause and peri-menopause arises and this too is taxing on the delicate balance of hormones.

Add to all of these stage-of-life issues the daily stress of child-rearing and other issues and it is no wonder women need serious supplementation. Even if you are a woman who eats right and gets proper exercise, chances are you could benefit from additional supplementation. It is never too late to make sure you get the right nutrients for the healthiest life possible.

Pure cocoa, Green Tea and Resveratrol - the combination makes a wholesome cup to nutritionally support good health, especially antioxidant power, and nutrition for supporting cardiovascular health. A cup of CoCoPure is sharing good health and good times together.

By Kevin Agrawal

Winter is almost gone – even though the groundhog saw his shadow, we all feel it. The end of winter is coming. But just because the cold weather is on its way out doesn’t mean we should take our immune system or its needs for granted. And there’s an easy way to derail the annual "change of season" sickness.

Season changes can affect the immune system and may even cause bouts of cold and flu. This is because:

Viruses, bacteria and allergens thrive for a longer time in cold and dry air. These pathogens find an easy passage to attack the body through the dry nasal mucus membranes.

Lack of activity and increased appetite may lead to craving of sweets and starchy foods which are high in calories and fat with very little nutrients.

Less sunlight in winter months may lead to depression. This, too, may lower immunity.1

Lack of adequate sleep.

Staying Healthy is Easier than Trying to Get Well

If you know how to keep your immune system healthy, you better your chances for keeping healthy and well all year long…

Nature has provided us with amazing immunity boosters which people have been using since ancient times.

Historically, chocolate has been known more for its medicinal value than its flavor. The cocoa plants have existed since 1800 B.C. They were mostly grown in humid low lands of the Mexican Gulf coast of Central America. For centuries, chocolate was consumed as a drink, a frothy brew made from the cocoa beans. The ancient Mayans, Aztecs and early Europeans loved the drink because of its mild stimulant effect, which made them feel awake, alert and strong. The Spanish explorer, Herman Cortes wrote to King Carlos I of Spain in 1529 that "This magical drink builds up resistance and fights fatigue."2

Drinking Chocolate Tea, a powerful combination of cocoa, green tea and resveratrol, is one of the best ways to support health and wellness.

Immune Boosters in Chocolate Tea

Theobromine present in cocoa has a mild stimulating effect on central nervous system and produces a relaxing effect on the muscles. Theobromine is also known to suppress cough2.

The flavonoids, naturally present in cocoa, help the immune system to be healthy. They do this by suppressing the compounds which cause active immune responses in the body.

Resveratrol increases the number of macrophages (immune responders) in the body to fight against bacteria; Cocoa contains the amino acids, and tryptophan, which helps in producing the neuro-transmitter. Serotonin, which promotes positive feelings and reduces seasonal depression.

Tea polysaccharides (TPS), one of the main components in green tea, stimulates the production of immune cells.3

Share a cup of good health this season with chocolate tea, like Coco PureTM…

A recent research has found association between seasonal changes and brain activity.

By Laurie Noepel

Most people reading this title would probably question and say to them, what is Royal Jelly? Royal Jelly is a white gelatinous substance that is secreted from the pharyngeal glands of the worker bees. It’s an exclusive food for the queen bee which speeds up the growth and development. Although the process is maximized the queen bee outlives the worker bees on an average of forty to one.

Royal Jelly is a nutritional substance not a medicine. I know many whose effects were truly phenomenal since its content is very rich in Vitamin B, Protein, and 8 Essential Amino Acids it literally gives the body exactly what it needs. It also has carbohydrates, water, and lipids as well.

In our society we run out the door every morning, drop the children off at daycare, race to our job and do it all again the next day. This kind of daily pace is very normal for today’s family considering we all have to work. Where Royal Jelly could assist would be the nutritional balance your body needs in the fast world we all live in. Some people choose other means of nutrition with vitamins or other supplements yet most of these are man made and not natural as the super food here.

I cannot say enough about Royal Jelly as it has been my friend for years. My philosophy is that if you don’t have your health you have nothing. I know people with so much of life’s treasure yet they either fight their diseases or they fight their fat. Preventive medicine is taking good care of your body and making sure you are ingesting all the right nutrients as well.

In the morning I start my day with a glass of orange juice and a half of teaspoon of fresh Royal Jelly. Then I shower with my Royal Jelly shampoo and conditioner. Then I wash my face and apply the Royal Jelly hydrating cream. At night I use the Royal Jelly night cream. Most of my friends in the past twenty years have said I look as young as I did then and in the last five years my weight has maintained a very healthy 113 lbs. I am truly blessed to have my health and enjoying something straight from the bee! The vitality and powerhouse of energy that I feel on a day to day basis is wonderful! I recommend it to all as health first and everything else later.

So what benefits, besides a general calming influence, does L-Theanine have and does any research support these reported benefits?

By Michael Rupkalvis

L-Theanine is an amino acid found in green tea that may produce calming effects in the brain. For centuries, green tea has been used in the Orient for its relaxing properties and it is the L-Theanine that gives green tea its ability to be calming, in spite of the high amount of caffeine that is present.

So what benefits, besides a general calming influence, does L-Theanine have and does any research support these reported benefits?

Scientific studies show L-Theanine impacts both the nervous and cardiovascular systems to produce a calming effect on your mental state, which is why it is often referred to as the "feel good supplement." It has been shown to promote deep muscle relaxation and improve good quality sleep. Scientists have investigated L-Theanine’s effect on brain amino acids and neurotransmitters. In clinical trials, L-Theanine was shown to increase alpha brain waves, which is considered an index of relaxation.

Gamma-amino-butyric acid (GABA) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter and can be considered the brain’s natural sedative. Animal studies have shown that theanine increases GABA and can also increase dopamine levels (a brain chemical with mood-enhancing properties).

In addition, several structure and function claims have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, which include:

Reduces stress

Promotes relaxation without drowsiness

Eases nervousness due to common every day overwork and fatigue

Reduces nervous irritability

Improves learning and concentration

Heightens mental acuity

Supports the immune system

Lowers cholesterol

Reduces stress and anxiety

Reduces the negative side effects of caffeine

There was a study done several years ago that showed L-Theanine helped people fall asleep easier and get into REM faster and stay there longer, resulting in a better quality of sleep. The researcher also commented that this was the case even with less total number of sleep hours.

The primary difference between L-Theanine and other anti-stress herbs is that it does not make the user drowsy. So it provides relaxation without tiredness. This may prove useful for those seeking a calming effect, while concurrently being able to continue to be alert and to concentrate. And unlike the majority of amino acids, it may be taken at any time, with or without food.

Perhaps one of the most extensively researched and documented nutritional ingredients, L-Theanine has demonstrated that it is safe and effective in many applications. In Japan it is widely used in many beverages and foods. In 1964, Japan’s Health and Welfare Department approved L-Theanine for unlimited use in all foods, with the exception of infant foods. Taiyo Kagaku Co., Ltd., Japan has been awarded several manufacturing and use patents for Suntheanine, their trademarked name for L-Theanine. The patents cover several applications which include reducing anxiety, suppressing behavioral problems of pets, reducing PMS symptoms, promoting relaxation, etc.

Those using chemotherapeutic drugs should only take L-Theanine with the approval of their medical advisers. In addition, women who are pregnant or who are nursing should avoid its use.

Michael Rupkalvis oversees the Clearer Thinking website. The site centers around how to improve memory, stress reduction and increasing concentration by employing a product called ThinkStraight, which is a supplement containing natural ingredients created to maximize the overall health of the brain.

By Theresa Stauffer

Over 88% of people today take vitamins. The reason being that we are not getting the nutrition that we need in our food today. When you go into almost any store today you will see nutritional supplements on shelves not to mention the vitamin stores that are opening. It can be over whelming trying to choose what you should take. There are many factors to choose from. like what brand, what vitamin, what dosage, what about the different formulations, and what about the cost.

A person can easily spend $100 a month and end up taking over 10 different pills a day and you might not be getting what you think you are. Did you read the label carefully was the serving size 1,2,or even 3 capsules? Most nutritional supplements call for more then 1 capsules for a serving size, so if you get a bottle with 120 capsules then most likely you need to take 4 capsules of that supplement. Why do you need to take more then 1 pill? In pills and capsules there is very little room for the actual active ingredient since up to 80% are fillers, binders, chelating agents and film coating.

High quality liquid multivitamins take care of that problem. You do not have to read the fine print on those bottles to figure out how many capsules you need or have to swallow all those pills. You can get all the vitamins, minerals, fruit, vegetable and plant extracts you need in one serving of a high quality liquid multivitamin.

Liquid vitamins have advantages over pills and capsules. Liquid minerals can get assimilated in as quick as 3 minutes while capsules can take 3 to 5 hours. Another problem with capsules is that there are some vitamins that your body can not absorb in this form so you are just wasting your money as they get flushed out of your system. You are also paying for all those fillers and binders which raise the cost of vitamins.

There are some that say you do not need to take any supplements that we get all that we need in our food. This is not true for several reasons. Years ago fruits and vegetables used to be picked and eaten with a day or two but not in todays society. Today they get picked and then travel across country and then gets stored on shelves in stores, each day that passes most fruits and vegetables start losing nutritional content. Then when we bring home that food we cook it and again more nutritional value gets lost. Plus how many of us today get the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables. Nutritional supplements are a must in todays society.

The next time you are going to buy nutritional supplements look for a high quality liquid multivitamin. You can get all you need in one bottle, saving you time and money. No longer will you have to worry about how many of each vitamin you need to take or if you can get all the pills down. Not to mention having to open all those different bottles. Plus you will not have to spend hours trying to figure out what to take. Trying to decipher between brands and types of vitamin on store shelves can be a nightmare. Not to mention the savings on the environment by using only 1 bottle instead of 3 or 4.

In today's society health is a major concern, and the nutrition that we get from our food today is not like it used to be.

By Theresa Stauffer

In today’s society health is a major concern, and the nutrition that we get from our food today is not like it used to be. Our food today is deficient in vitamins and minerals due to mineral-deficient soils that are common throughout the world today. Further depletion of necessary nutrients results from processing and cooking foods. Our bodies need the right amounts of vitamins and minerals to function at its peak, otherwise illness can occur. Since the nutrients that our body needs is not coming from our food we need to look at nutritional supplements.

Let’s first take a look at why we need vitamins and minerals. They both have different but vital functions within our body. Vitamins control the chemical reactions within the body to convert food into energy and living tissue. Minerals are needed for several body functions including building strong bones, transmitting nerve signals, maintaining a normal heart beat, and are used to produce necessary hormones.

Recent studies show conclusively that vitamins and minerals work together in synergy. The lack of one of them can sometimes interfere with another vitamin or mineral’s function. If this deficiency continues it can have profound effects on persons health.

Knowing that we do not get the nutrition from our food more and more people are taking supplements. Liquid supplements are becoming increasingly popular today. One obvious advantage to liquid is that you do not have to swallow pills that can get stuck in your throat or leave an after taste. Other benefits of liquid supplements are that they have a high absorption rate and are bio-available. The reason for this is because they are in liquid form, therefore the body does not have to break them down. Capsules and tablets need to be broken down first for the body to use them and most never get broken down completely before being passed out of the system. Studies have shown that the body only absorbs between 10% to 20% of the nutrients available in capsule form, while over 90% are absorbed in liquid form.

Liquid formulation also means that you need smaller amount of ingredients then are found in capsules and tablets. You can also combine many different vitamins and minerals in one supplement to give you an all in one product. This can be done because unlike tablets and capsules there are no filler and binders needed to keep the product together.

The availability of liquid supplements does not mean that one can live without eating the proper food and remain healthy.
