quinoa nutrition factsI’ve always been a long-time believer of healthy diet and by diet I did not mean starve yourself to death. There are certain types of food that fills you up really well but they won’t make you gain weight super fast just like what French fries do. I replaced white rice with quinoa and I swear I’ve never felt this good. Maybe you need to know about quinoa nutrition facts before you actually switch to it.

With its nutritional value, quinoa might be considered as a super grain although technically it is not a grain, the seed of the plant is related to spinach and Swiss chard. What I love most about the numerous quinoa nutrition facts is the amount of protein you get.

Why is it called the super grain or “Mother of all grains”? Well because unlike most grains, it does not lack the amino acid lysine. Quinoa actually has a lot of lysine content. This means that you are getting complete high quality protein for every serving. This is same as true with other non-true grains like buckwheat and amaranth.

Did you know that WHO (World Health Organization) rated the protein quality of quinoa at least tantamount to that in milk? It also offers more iron than other grains and it contains abundant potassium, riboflavin (can help ease migraine), vitamin B6, niacin and thiamin. Quinoa is a great source of magnesium. Copper and zinc as well. Can you find that all in other grains? I don’t think so!

There are plenty of quinoa nutrition facts and health benefits that you can read online but I’m pretty sure you can’t wait to go to your grocery store and buy a bag and whip up a scrumptious meal.
